Anugerah Perdana Scholar Awards USA 2014

DR. NOOR SYAMILAH ZAKARIA from the Department of Counsellor Education and Counselling Psychology, Faculty of Educational Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia is the recipient for The Perdana Scholar Award USA 2014 for Publication Category. The award is a recognition of excellence in student scholarship program sponsored by the government in various fields in the United States of America. Particularly for the publication category, it is awarded to a student who has produced many successful academic writings and published the essays in various refereed journals and academic papers of high quality and global recognition. The award was presented by the Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak on 26 September 2014 in New York, USA.
Dr. Noor Syamilah Zakaria has pursued her doctoral program at the University of Wyoming, USA from August 2009 through August 2013 with a scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and Universiti Putra Malaysia, and graduated with The Best International Graduate Student Award on May 11, 2013. She also has completed her post-doctoral program at the same university with another scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Education Malaysia for a period of one year from August 2013 through August 2014. Recently on 22 August 2014, she resumed to work at the Department of Counsellor Education and Counselling Psychology, Faculty of Educational Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her focus of interest and passion in the counseling profession is foregrounded on counselor education and supervision, with her current research and writing enthusiasm is on counseling ethics education. Throughout her doctoral and post-doctoral programs in the USA, she has published 14 articles in several peer reviewed journals, 2 chapter in books, 43 proceedings, and 2 creative writings focusing on related topics in counselor education and supervision, counseling ethics education, and teacher education
