The following graduate degrees are offered in the department.

Master of Education (MEd) in Physical Education: It is a course-based option program with a robust curriculum for graduates to be competent and versatile on physical education training and teaching profession. Among the courses include Physical Education Teaching Approaches, Pedagogy and Curriculum Development in Physical Education, Programme Evaluation in Physical Education and Sports, Assessment in Kinesiology, and Supervision in Physical Education.

Master of Education (MEd) in Sport Science: It is a course-based program that emphasizes a client based oriented application on sport science such as Exercise Physiology, Sport & Exercise Psychology, Biomechanics, Sport Nutrition, Motor Development and Assessment in Kinesiology.

Master of Science in Physical Education or Sport Science: It provides advanced training in the general area of physical education, health education, or sport science with an emphasis on research. Graduates will be competent and ready for career in health care, health coach, consulting, research associate, sporting careers (administration, coaching, sport psychology, strength and conditioning coach), injury prevention and rehabilitation, community/municipal programming.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physical Education: prepares students for research in physical education and health education. Graduates may aspire to research-oriented positions in public or higher education and schools of allied health as well as voluntary or governmental health and/or safety agencies. Graduates of this program are prepared for careers in teaching and research in each of these areas.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Sport Science: prepares students for post-doctoral appointments and positions in universities, industries, the military and research institutes. Graduates are trained for teaching and research careers in the following specialization.

  • Exercise Physiology: conduct research in basic and applied exercise physiology. Emphases in the applied programs are in neuromuscular efficiency and control, cardiorespiratory response to exercise, and metabolism in response to exercise.
  • Motor Behaviour: thorough foundation in the theoretical processes that assist the performance and learning of perceptual-motor skills. Emphases in motor learning, motor control and motor development are offered.
  • Sport Nutrition: mindful approaches to eating behaviours that may provide practical means to advance athletic training and performance through improved nutrition and recovery mechanisms.
  • Biomechanics:  measurement and simulation of movement that facilitates in improving performance and risk injury. The programme contains cutting-edge content, ranging from experimental data collection and analysis techniques and equipment; including motion analysis systems, force plates, wireless electromyography (EMG), and isokinetic dynamometers.
  • Sport Pedagogy:  design and conduct research on teaching/teacher education and curriculum and instruction, with an emphasis on linking theory to physical education practice.
  • Test and Measurement in Sports and Physical Education:  fundamentals of collecting and analysing data of human performance and applying their results to real-life situations with a special niche in Talent Identification in Sports. Focusing on the core concepts of reliability and validity of data, provides all the necessary tools for evidence-based decision making that can be applied to physical therapy, allied health professions, kinesiology, sport and exercise science, physical education, health, and fitness.
  • Sport & Exercise Psychology: involves the scientific study of people and their behaviours in sport and the practical applications of that knowledge; (1) to understand how psychological and social factors influence an individual’s behavioural outcomes (e.g., sport performance, exercise motivation) and (2) to understand how participation in sport and exercise influences psychological and social development, health, and well-being among elite or recreational athletes, youth, older adults, physically and/or mentally disabled, and chronic disease.
  • Performance Analysis:  process of planning, gathering, organising, analysing and feeding back information related to performance in sport and rehabilitation.
