Dr. Mohd. Majid Konting adalah Profesor Madya di Jabatan Asas Pendidikan, Fakulti Pengajian Pendidikan, Universiti Putra Malaysia sejak 1982. Beliau memperoleh Diploma Pertanian daripada Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, Serdang (1978); Bacelor Sains (Pendidikan Vokasional Pertanian) (1980) dan Master of Applied Statistics (1982), kedua-duanya daripada Louisiana State University, USA; dan Doktor Falsafah dalam Pendidikan (1995) daripada University of Lancaster, England.

Dr. Mohd. Majid dikenali sebagai seorang yang mempunyai kepakaran dan minat yang mendalam dalam bidang dasar, penyelidikan, penaksiran, penilaian dan perancangan pendidikan serta pendidikan dan perkembangan guru. Beliau berpengalaman mengajar dan menyelia pelajar serta melakukan penyelidikan dan perundingan dalam bidang kepakaran dan minat beliau lebih daripada 25 tahun. Beliau telah berjaya menyelia seramai lebih 50 pelajar siswazah.

Dari segi penyelidikan, Dr. Mohd. Majid telah mengetuai dan melibatkan diri dalam lebih 40 projek penyelidikan dan perundingan yang ditaja oleh pelbagai agensi peringkat kebangsaan dan antarabangsa. Antaranya adalah Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia; Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi; Kementerian Belia dan Sukan; Kementerian Pertahanan; Jabatan Pembangunan Islam Malaysia; Jabatan Perdana Menteri; Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam; FELDA, UNESCO dan World Bank. Beliau telah mengetuai kajian Penilaian Sistem Pengurusan Sekolah Bestari anjuran Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia pada tahun 2003.

Dr. Mohd. Majid juga aktif dalam bidang penulisan ilmiah. Beliau telah membentang dan menerbitkan tulisan beliau dalam bentuk kertas kerja persidangan, prosiding, buku, modul, monograf dan jurnal berwasit. Antara buku teks pengajian tinggi karangan beliau ialah Kaedah Penyelidikan Pendidikan (DBP, 1990) yang telah diulang cetak sebanyak 7 kali. Beliau sering dijemput oleh pelbagai agensi awam dan swasta untuk menilai program mereka dan memberi ceramah berkaitan dengan pendidikan.

Dr. Mohd. Majid menganggotai persatuan profesional dan pertubuhan bukan kerajaan. Beliau merupakan Fellow Institut Penyelidikan Matematik (INSPEM); Ahli Lembaga Pengurus, Persatuan Pendidikan Malaysia (PERPEMA); Ahli Jawatankuasa, Persatuan Penyelidikan Pendidikan Malaysia (MERA); dan Pengerusi Sektor Pendidikan, Forum Kebangsaan Malaysia. Dr. Mohd. Majid adalah mantan Timbalan Dekan (Akademik dan Antarabangsa), Fakulti Pengajian Pendidikan, UPM; Ketua Jabatan Asas Pendidikan, UPM; Pengarah, Pusat Penyelidikan Dasar Pendidikan; Pengerusi, Jawatankuasa Pemandu Projek Dengkil-Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC); dan Ahli Jawatankuasa Management Science and Operation Research Society of Malaysia (MSORSM).

Ketika ini Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd. Majid adalah Timbalan Pengarah (Polisi dan Kualiti), Pusat Pembangunan Akademik, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang.

Dr. Mohd. Majid Konting is an Associate Professor at the Department of Foundations of Education, Faculty of Educational Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia since 1982. He obtained his Diploma in Agriculture (1978) from the University of Agriculture Malaysia, Serdang; Bachelor of Science (Vocational Agriculture Education) (1980) and Master of Applied Statistics (1982), both from Louisiana State University, USA; and Doctor of Philosophy in Education (1995) from the University of Lancaster, England.

Dr. Mohd. Majid is widely recognized as an expert and has in-depth interest in the area of educational policy, research, measurement, evaluation and planning as well as teacher education and development. He has experiences in teaching, supervision,  and conducting research and consultancies in his field of expertise and interest more than 25 years. He has successfully supervised more than 50 postgraduate students.

In terms of research, Dr. Mohd. Majid has headed and is involved in more than 40 research and consultancy projects sponsored by various national and international agencies. Among them are the Ministry of Education; Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation; Ministry of Youth and Sports; Ministry of Defense; Department of Islamic Development Malaysia; Prime Minister’s Department; Public Service Department; FELDA, UNESCO and World Bank. He was the principal researcher of the Evaluation of Smart School Management System Project sponsored by the Ministry of Education Malaysia in 2003.

Dr. Mohd. Majid is also active in academic writing. He has presented and published his writings in the form of conference papers, proceedings, books, modules, monographs and refereed journals. Among higher education text books authored by him is Methods in Educational Research (DBP, 1990) which has been reprinted 7 times. He has been frequently invited by various public and private agencies to evaluate their programs and give lecture on various issues in education.

Dr. Mohd. Majid is involved in professional associations and non-governmental organizations. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Research (INSPEM); Management Council Member, Malaysian Education Association (MAE); Committee Member, Malaysian Educational Research Association (MERA); and Chairman of Education Sector, Malaysian National Forum. Dr. Mohd. Majid has been the Deputy Dean (Academic and International), Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM; Head, Department of Foundation of Education, UPM; Director, Centre for Policy Research; Chairman, Dengkil-Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC) Steering Committee Project; and Committee Member of Management Science and Operation Research Society of Malaysia (MSORAM).

Currently, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd. Majid is the Deputy Director (Policy and Quality), Centre for Academic Development, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang.
