Profesor Dr. Maimunah Ismail dilahirkan di Kuala Lumpur dan memperolehi B. Agric. Science dari Universiti Malaya. Mula bertugas di UPM pada 1978 dan memperolehi Ph.D. dari universiti tersebut pada tahun 1993 dalam bidang Pendidikan Pengembangan. Beliau dinaikkan pangkat ke jawatan Professor pada tahun 2001, dan kini bertugas sebagai Ketua, Jabatan Pemajuan Professional dan Pendidikan Lanjutan di Fakulti Pengajian Pendidikan. Selain pengajaran, beliau telah terlibat dalam penyelidikan dan penerbitan, yang mana beliau telah membentangkan kertas kerja dalam lebih daripada 20 persidangan antarabangsa. Beliau telah menerbitkan 6 buah buku akademik dan sejumlah artikel jurnal dalam pengkhususan pengajian gender dan pembangunan masyarakat.

Professor Dr. Maimunah Ismail was born in Kuala Lumpur and obtained her first degree in B. Agric. Science from University of Malaya. She joined UPM in 1978 as a lecturer and received her Ph.D. from the university in 1993 in Extension Education. She was promoted to Professor in 2001, and currently is the Head, Department of Professional Development and Continuing Education, in the Faculty of Educational Studies. Besides teaching, she has been involved in research and publication, of which she has presented papers at more than 20 international conferences. She has published 6 academic books and a number or journal articles in her specializations of gender studies and community development.

Teaching experience:

30 years teaching experience in the areas of Extension Education & Community Development, Research Methods in Social Sciences, and Gender Studies at undergraduate and graduate levels. Have supervised 40 graduate students and currently supervising 8 MS and 7 PhD students.
