Abdul Fatah bin Abdul Malek dilahirkan di Kampun Tanjung Resang, Endau, Johor. Beliau telah mendapat pendidikan asas dan menengah di Mersing, Johor. Setelah menamatkan pendidikan di peringkat menengah, beliau telah memasuki Kolej Pertanian Malaya (Universiti Putra Malaysia), tamat dengan mendapat Diploma Pertanian pada tahun 1972. Dalam tahun 1976, beliau telah melanjutkan pelajaran di Lousiana State University, U.S.A dan telah mendapat ijazah B.Sc, M.Sc dan Ph.D. Semasa menuntut di universiti ini, beliau pernah dipilih sebagai Presiden Persatuan Pelajar-Pelajar Islam Universiti tersebut.

Dr. Abdul Fatah pulang ke Malaysia pada akhir 1983 dan bertugas sebagai pensyarah di Universiti Putra Malaysia sehingga kini. Beliau telah menghasilkan dan menterjemah beberapa buah buku, menulis artikel akhbar dan jurnal, menghasilkan modul dan membentangkan kertas kerja selain daripada menjalankan tugas rasmi Pengajaran dan Penyeliaan pelajar siswazah di peringkat Masters dan Ph.D Kini beliau berjawatan Professor Madya. Beliau sangat berminat dalam penyelidikan yang mencerap perkaitan antara kerohanian dan pembangunan. Beliau telah menulis beberapa artikel tentang hal ini.

 

Abdul Fatah bin Abdul Malek was born in Tanjung Resang, Endau, Johor. He received primary and secondary education in Mersing, Johor. Upon completing secondary education, he was admitted to the College of Agriculture (Universiti Putra Malaysia) and received the Diploma in Agriculture in 1972. In early 1976, he continued his study at Lousiana State University in the U.S.A and earned B.sc, M.Sc and Ph.D degrees.

 Dr. Abdul Fatah returned to Malaysia in late 1983 and has been a lecturer at Universiti Putra Malaysia since then. He has written and translated a couple of books, writes articles in newspapers and journals, produces education modules and present papers at seminars besides performing official responsibility of teaching and supervising graduate students of the Masters and Doctoral levels. Now he is an associate professor. Dr. Abdul Fatah is keenly interested in studying the relationship between spirituality and development. He has written articles pertaining to the subject.
